A modular, in-house, Certification Programme that develops competence in core NLP skills, this programme consists of eight, two-day training modules plus project work. The training leads to a formal certification as an NLP Practitioner and gives insights into both ‘classical NLP techniques’ and how to use NLP in the work environment. As a result of completing the Practitioner programme participants can expect to have more self-confidence, improved language skills, enhanced influencing skills, plus the ability to solve problems faster and more effectively.

All managers and professional staff who want to acquire a powerful range of tools for communication, influencing, change and personal development.

Course structure

The NLP Business Practitioner programme consists of a series of eight, two-day, interlinked, development modules; each held around one month apart. Each module focuses on an important aspect of the NLP syllabus and covers the ‘classic topics’, ranging from developing rapport, using language patterns and understanding behavioural ‘strategies’ through to formal NLP change techniques like Swish patterns, Anchoring and the Visual Squash. The eighth and final module concentrates on certification and involves participants undertaking a written review on NLP concepts and demonstrating their skills by giving a formal presentation on an aspect of NLP. Successful participants are then awarded the ‘Practitioner Certificate’.

Action Learning projects

Each module is followed by an Action Learning phase, which involves the participants meeting (or having a phone conference) once every two weeks. These sessions last for about thirty minutes during which the participants discuss how they are using the tools in action. This allows the delegates to support and coach each other as they try out their new skills in the work environment.

Fundamentals of NLP

Understanding the nature of NLP tools and techniques.

  • The power of positive language - understanding surface and deep language levels
  • NLP presuppositions - the underlying concepts that underpin NLP strategies
  • The Resource triangle - an NLP based problem solving methodology
  • Well Formed Outcomes - NLP goal setting strategies

Module 2

Language patterns, ‘deep structure’ and change

Becoming aware of how language shapes thoughts and experiences.

  • Sensory-based language - how word choice relates to our senses
  • Eye movements and how they indicate thought processes
  • Applying the VAK model in action
  • Hierarchy of ideas: an overview of language
  • Meta model question - examining the underlying structure of communication
  • A basic coaching model: Meta Model questions and well-formed outcomes

Module 3

Hypnotic language and managing emotions

Grasping the concept of using ‘artfully vague’ language to influence others and how ‘classical conditioning techniques’ can be applied in everyday situations.

  • Milton Model language patterns
  • How to use ‘hypnotic language’ in the work setting
  • Anchoring - how to generate emotional states
  • Using anchors - Simple, Chained and Stage anchors
  • Using Anchors in coaching

Module 4

NLP strategy elicitation and change tools

Analysing how people make decisions or go about tackling tasks using the NLP strategy elicitation process.

  • Submodalities - a fast route to making changes
  • Beliefs change process - using the Swish pattern
  • NLP strategy elicitation process
  • Understanding effective and ineffective strategies
  • Installing new strategies to develop personal effectiveness

Module 5

The power of values

Gaining an awareness of the power of values and how they can be (a) uncovered and (b) changed.

  • Neurological Levels and how they can be used to ‘diagnose’ issues and problems
  • Deciding interventions based on Neurological Levels analysis
  • The importance and structure of values in NLP
  • Eliciting values using the Logical Levels process
  • Dealing with conflicting beliefs and values using the Visual Squash technique
  • Using metaphors for bringing about change, including pre-teaching and problem solving

Module 6

NLP and personal change techniques

Developing an understanding of some of the methods by which NLP can bring about profound personal change and personal growth.

Module 7

NLP framing and re-framing concepts

Running meetings and facilitating group sessions with elegance and poise.

Module 8

Assessment of presentations

Concluding the programme with a skills assessment and the award of NLP practitioner certificates.
